... I finally could reinstall a triple monitor setup and my G27 today... The steering will need upgrading at one point, but still, truly stoked being able to play on the Ring again, albeit from my home :)
EDIT: bezel adjustment has been done since the picture ;)

Sweet! I just got a seat and wheel/pedal mount combo, and I couldn’t be happier with how solid the whole thing feels. Your monitor setup is really great for immersion factor, I’m sure, and isn’t as limited by what games support it as say, an Oculus Rift.
My question is, I’ve been so used to using a controller in racing games, transitioning to the wheel has made me several seconds slower on lap times; m y ref lexes are obviously faster switching from gas to brakes with my trigger fingers, and banging a stick side to side is easier than cranking a wheel with force feedback if you need opposite lock. Do you have any tips, or is it mostly an issue of practice?

What do you use? With good sims like Assetto Corsa or iRacing there’s no way you’re being faster with a controller. Arcad-ish games like Gran Turismo or Project Cars are built to be used with a controller, making the switch to a steering fairly useless when it comes to laptimes.

That’s impressive.

I used to have that setup. 3 x 24" and a Drive Force Pro. Did Rfactor and iRacing. Then I next got a kid.
cute little girl: standing in the doorway of the office while I’m in the first lap of an iRace, “Daddy, will you read this to me?”
Me: *presses alt+F4* “yes.”
—-VR racing career over.

That is certainly a good point. I have a number of games that I’m now trying with the wheel, with mixed results: Forza 7, I’m down by 3-7 seconds depending on track and car choice (higher horsepower stuff is ridiculously hard to drive at the limit and I’m a long ways away from keeping them in control), Dirt Rally is more difficult because of the near constant force feedback and difficulty in left-foot braking because of the wheel platform support, but Assetto Corsa is finally do-able and feels more natural to drive. Before, I was absolute garbage attempting that game with a controller. In AC , m y issue becomes un-learning my balls-to-the-wall habits in Forza and drive more smoothly and waiting to apply power on corner exit; it really does feel much closer to real-world track driving in that regard.
I’m using a Thrustmaster TMX P ro and an Openw heeler seat and stand , by the way. One of these days I may get the shifter peripheral, too, but that’s a not-insignificant price for it.

Yeah Forza and Dirt aren't sims no matter how they market it... Try NetKar Pro or iRacing, you'll see your steering coming to life ;)
